When you flash your Master Scuba Diver card, people know that you’ve spent time underwater in a variety of environments and had your share of dive adventures. What's the difference between a Master Diver and a Dive Master
Often misunderstood, a Master Diver has taken the time to gain the Skills / Knowledge / Experience to be comfortable diving in most environments. It is the highest possible level of Recreational Diver.
Usually focused on a specific area of diving they have gained enough courses to be considered an Expert. It is basically someone who knows and is formally recognised as a "Master" in the underwater world.
A Dive Master or Dive Guide is simply a professional who works underwater, their training focuses on leading dives, advanced rescue skills, WHS and the requirements of working in a Dive Centre. It is usually only the first step in a career underwater, with most going on to become Instructors. As an instructor advances further in their training, they may in turn become a Master Scuba Diver Trainer, one of the highest levels of Instructor where they can teach at least 5 distinct specialities as well as training a minimum of 50 divers. In reality, a Master Diver, is a higher level of diver from a Dive Master.
